Larry Abele
Larry Abele graduated from high school in Tallahassee, Florida, where
he was born and mostly raised. He went to Virginia Tech on a track
scholarship and fell in love with economics. He met and studied with
Nic Tideman for a few years before leaving Virginia Tech to walk
across the US with about 50 others to promote ecological awareness. He
and several others enjoyed the 9 months walk so much that they decided
to continue across Europe and Asia. Three and a half years later they
ended in Hiroshima Peace Park in Japan. After the walk he returned to
college to finish his undergraduate degree in economics, followed by a
masters degree in finance from Cambridge University. Since leaving the
UK, he has spent the last three years raising his two children and
working on quantitative global asset allocation models for
institutional money managers.
Larry Abele lived in New York City and worked for Deutschebank. He
served on the Board of Trustees of the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation.
